ED design fail leaves exploration utterly broken.

This post highlights the failed exploration/navigation mechanic in Elite Dangerous.

Here is my target... this small nebula some 9,700 LY from SOL containing a single neutron star that I happened across during my exploration journey. At 45.50 LY it's much too far to jump to. I'll need to find another jump point.

Here is the nearest jump point, 36 LY away. It's still too far. The Daydrinker has a max range of 34.29 LY when full.

The actual jump distance is 35.97 LY according to the Galaxy Map.

I'll need make a few jumps out of system and back to burn off about 1/2 of my FSD fuel.
Doing this lessens my weight and brings my jump range up to 35.15 LY.
I'll need to supercruise .82 LY to get within jump range.

Here you can see the distance traveled in supercruise. I have closed the gap.
No distance warning for jump destination also means I have enough FSD fuel.
Since we know that original jump distance was 35.97 LY and I have traveled .82 LY,
I now have an actual jump range of 35.15 LY.

This distance is confirmed in the HUD readout.
Fuel confirmed here as well.

By burning off fuel in supercruise I have brought my jump range up from 35.15 to 35.28.
This should bring me well under the max fuel cap for jumping and as we've seen I'm now 35.15 LY out,
therefore I'm under the cap by .13 LY. I have fuel. I have range. I have met the conditions for a jump.

Unfortunately this is not the case. The game architecture still assumes I'm in the instance near my star (which I am) but uses the Galaxy Map distance of 35.97 to calculate my jump capabilities. Even if I could close the distance by half, it would still use the GM distance for it's calc.  Why? Becuase ED uses instances and ALL travel in the ED universe is instance to instance. It is a complete break in ED's own lore, a complete break in game immersion and puts explorers in an intolerable situation... there is no way to explore my way.
